Backing rules used
Backing = quilt top + 8″ each way. Fabric 42″ wide (editable) is pieced with 1/2″ seams when the quilt is wider. The calculator compares running the panels along the length or across the width and gives the smaller yardage, rounded up to 1/8 yd.
